Paralyzed Army veteran dies in Cupertino fire, mother escapes

A 51-year-old paralyzed Army veteran was found dead Monday morning inside a Cupertino home destroyed by a fire that was burning so ferociously that firefighters couldn’t safely go in to try to save him, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.
